Re: epson pigment printer
The jpss has a good coating and can accept a reasonable amount of ink, plain paper setting doesnt lay down enough ink im my experience, you may need to play with density. Create a percentage patch from 10 percent to 100 but make a 90 95 and 100 patch then print on a sheet using various settings, you ideally want a slight difference between the 95 and 100 patch also make some white out thin lines on black background and see if these bleed. I have a chart for this PM me ill send it to you.
Re: epson pigment printer
well after I posted this thread I still have the original printer (Epson xp720 dye based)
Had as issue today when the photo black had just run out (never been replaced in over 12 months) so the printer asks me whether to use the normal black, yes says I, print prints out and no banding which is great, then printer told me I had to replace the photo black ink cart which i did, printed another print for a shirt and the banding re-appears so looks like the banding is from the photo black port which is the only pigment ink in the machine?
Tearing my hair out with this printer now, had photoshop manage colours and seemed a little better, dunno what profiles to use, ended up using photo quality but on a standard setting while photoshop managed the colours, seemed to work but still not happy due to ink usage. I bought 4 brand new inks from epson 2 weeks ago, 3 are now bone dry and done about 15 prints on standard settings so dunno whether its my settings or what. Printer is set on standard printing and plain paper settings and is drinking the inks?
