3d mug sublimation - having trouble

Hi

I currently use my 3d heat press to sublimate phone cases and they turn out perfectly but I want to start sublimating mugs.

I've bought some orca coated 11oz mugs to test on, but the last few attempts have not turned out well. The colour just isn't vibrant enough.

I wondered if anyone has any advice/tips on the process?

I use a silicone mug wrap.

Sublimation paper with Sawgrass inks and a Ricoh printer.

i currently preheat the 3d heat press to 200 celcius, whilst it heats up, i prepare the mug (stick the design onto the mug and then wrap the silicone wrap around it).

Then i put it in the heat press for 15 minutes.

Also after you stick your design to the mug; take half a piece of plain A4 (length ways) cut it down so its a bit bigger than your print and wrap it round (no need for tape) then use your silicone wrap. This will help stop the silicone wrap picking up ink and giving you random ink spots later on.

Yes but which, there are a few and they are different sizes so require different times. Describe it, how many mugs can you put in it? what colour is it?

Also i just figured out if i set the timer to 13 minutes instead of 15, the result is stronger.

I have the mini one so I can't help you with times but there are others on here who do have that also any threads where people are talking about the big red 3d machine may be of help.

If your getting better results with a shorter time you where probably overcooking them.

I press mugs in a 3D oven like that kind, with 200ºC and 9mins on a single mug, and a 30-35 secs increase per mug (I don't press more than 6 or 7 mugs at the same time, to minimize inconsistency on the temperature around the edges of the oven).
Ricoh 3110 and Sawgrass inks too.

Turn machine on and set temp to 180 degrees and time to 8 minutes
Wait about 45 minutes for oven to be at temp and consistent
Assuming you are using correct profiles the wrap mug and put in oven
Take out and fingers crossed it will be perfect
Adjust time to suit if not
