HI folks,

Anyone have or has tried free e-commerce stores/web builders and are they any good eg like these https://freewebstore.com/

Can anyone recommend one as I am thinking of binning ebay etc as the fees are just way to high.

Thanks

I started my business with free webs store, you grow out of them pretty quick lack of space, functionality etc, but they are great for small start ups with little or no funding though, id look into wordpress and woocommerce and free hosting if you really have no budget, happy to help further if more info is needed

I have been up and running for abut a year, i have the website name etc and have a go daddy account but they are trying to fleece me for money (£80.00) to keep the webspace for another year and have argued with them over this as it was peanuts to setup.

depends on the cost of hiring someone (or the time) to move the site to another host, or if your willing to rebuild on another server?

I paid a lot for my first site upfront along with monthly fees, it worked seamlessly but when I closed that business I had nothing to show for the investment.

Nowadays I make my own site using Opencart as it's so easy. Loads of support on here and elsewhere, costs low/free and biggest commitment is time.

I won't be held to ransom from anywhere like that. I started this forum on a free site and when we outgrew they wouldn't release the data, tens of thousands of posts. I got the data but it took some doing. My current host company appear expensive but support and service is the best I've ever seen from any company so worth every penny.

HI Justin,

Did you create an entire site with opencart and can you use your own domain names for example as I have never tried it?

Thanks

Yes you can. You can get free themes as well. I bought a few modifications but they don't usually cost much and you dont have to get them.

I have just downloaded opencart and opened an account, I may check out the themes for storefronts etc and see how that goes.

I will let you know how I get on with it, thanks for the help.

Let us know if you need any help, setting up can be tricky at first but worth sticking it out.

Well I have added some free hosting etc until I get something more mainstream up and running, I believe I need to add all the files and upload them to the free hosting server.

I'm just doing the wordpress shop at the minute from scratch then hope to more or less bolt the shop onto the front of it (or any future sites that I may build to save me building shops for everything) if that makes sense?
