Cooling printed mug

Hi Guys

Was just wondering if there was a quicker way to cool down mugs after they come out of press other than just letting them stand cooling down.

Is it ok to maybe put them in bucket of water for say 30 seconds to cool them.

I used to do that in the days of TAMS mugs, but I don't have the confidence to do so these days. That's why I use a deskfan.

If you're dunking, I would recommend that you make sure the water isn't too cold. Tepid or room temperature would be better. The less "shock" the mug gets, the more chance it has of being okay.

If you hear it "ping" then you might be in trouble.

Once in the water, it doesn't matter how long it stays there.

Yeah i was just thinking about using room temp water, i might just stick to letting them cool down themselves haha

All you need to do is take the high temp out of the mug so any temp water is fine just to dunk and allow to dry. We use water straight from the warehouse kitchen for cooling the mugs and slowly allow the mug to "sizzle" as it's placed into the water.

If I recall correctly from when I used to dunk, the water would soon warm up after you'd dunked a few anyway. That heat from the mugs has to go somewhere...

Always dunked .............. and if you've got a huge batch of mugs to do, why not fill up the bath and then when you've finished stick the kids in it - thus saving a few pence in the normal methods of getting warm water ................. kids do start to smell a little 'sulphurish' after a bit though!
