If you don't know what inks you have how can you be sure they're even sublimation inks? How will you maintain consistency and buy identical inkset?

Let's try a different route :-)

When you opened the printer what cartridges did you put in the printer?

Were they from the red boxes with SAWGRASS printed on them (as shown in one of your images) or were they other cartridges you had from somewhere else?

He said he's using refill cartridges that came with the printer it could be he hasn't taken the travel plugs out of the cartridges and getting a weak mix.

On a Ricoh they are closed cup systems I think. I have one and the refillable carts for mine don't even have travel plugs. I could be wrong on that though.

Send us pictures of the following:

The label on the bottle of the ink you purchased
The printer with the carts installed
A print from your printer on sublimation printer (ideally a block of CYAN MAGENTA YELLOW and BLACK)
A nozzle check from the printer

Hard to be sure but looks like the carts aren't venting. Have you unplugged the smaller of the two rubber plugs in each cart when installing them? This needs to be done to stop airlocking.
