looking for template for mug printing where i can see a copy of mug before printing

I've been looking for this for some time. Tried the Photoshop system but did not get on with the one I tried, possibly my lack of Photoshop knowledge.
My solution was to use 3DStudio Max to create the 3D mug, then render views (front, back, mid) and the results are acceptable.

It would be an expensive solution if you have to buy the 3ds Max software.

The Techcurl one looks really good, but it is very low resolution.

I often render mugs in Keyshot 4 for my own purposes. Using a 3D model and rendering software gives you great control over many factors such as position, lighting, reflections, backgrounds etc. Also, if you're capable of designing your own 3D models, then there's nothing you can't create a mockup of.

For instance, I designed a model of the two-tone 12oz mug with spoon when no alternative mockup generators were available. I also designed a 10oz Durham mug, as sold by Listawood, which has a flatter handle than the 'C' type you find on most 3D mug models on the net.

Another alternative is to model the mugs yourself, render them with a grid on in place of the wrap, then make up a Photoshop document and Warp an image to fit the grid. Save the layer as a 'Smart Object' then all you have to do in future is design your wrap image, load it into the Smart Object layer and you have an instant rendering!

In my own example, I've thrown in a couple of Oreo's free gratis, and a backdrop! These are things you can easily add in Photoshop ...

Don't want to bore anyone here, but I just want to add that Photoshop is really worth getting to grips with.

This is an attempt of mine at producing an 'embroidered' effect. The idea (apart from I just like playing around in Photoshop!) was to print designs using this effect for subbing onto Tote bags. Another use would maybe be as a quick mockup of a design for anyone into real embroidery, just to give a rough picture of what the final result might be like. The images are simply coloured images loaded into a Smart Object layer and Photoshop does the rest.

Yes, it's still a work-in-progress, but then again so is nearly everything I do!

I'm hoping to find the time to tweak it some more, but I wanted it to be dead easy for new Photoshop users to use, without having to load and run Actions, Brushes, Patterns, etc, as most paid-for embroidery mockups do.

When I get a usable version I'll provide a download link for anyone interested. It's best feature will be - it's FREE!

I may also provide links to my mug mockup designs if anyone is using these types of mug (Transfer Press two-tone mug with spoon and Listawood 10oz Durham mug).
