Sublimation on canvas?
Re: Sublimation on canvas?
Hi all.
Please excuse my ignorance but I am a total newbie so please bear with me. My question is a simple one.....is it possible to do dye sub on canvas? I'm thinking about getting a large format printer and printing them but would prefer to do sublimation using my Epsom. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Dave

It says you're a Junior Member though
We ourselves did some Subli canvas printing but in the end outsourced to a local print specialist company.

Yeah, Yoda Junior...that's me
. Ultimately I want to get a 60" large format printer which will cover all scenarios. But....I'm literally just setting up (haven't produced so much as a mug yet!) so I'm being a bit coy at present.

Hi dave yes you can, but obviously you are limited to the size of your printer and press you also need to allow for the canvas to wrap round the frame unless you prefer white edges. The vibrancy of the colours and the durability of the print is far better with sublimation than inkjet, but as I said there are limitations.

Hi Steve.
Thanks for the reply.Ultimately I want to get a large format printer but in the short term my A3 size Epsom will give me the opportunity to get into it and also learn to stretch the canvas etc.

Dave, not a problem if you need any more help or advice please feel free to get in touch. We have a demo day coming up in carlisle again this month, but a bit closer to home we have one in the north east next month. Or you can just pop over to carlisle anytime for more info on canvas stretching ect.
