With TruePix paper, my settings are Epson Matte, high speed and best photo quality. Don't waste your time on budget papers, they are too thin to hold a decent amount of ink.

my guess is that you have dye sublimation PHOTO paper, (the 'host' paper) - meant to be used with a 'donor' ribbon of RGB.

if it is PHOTO sublimation paper, it would always repel liquid.
Photo sublimation involves 3 part 'donor' film - in R, G, & B that melt/transfere/sublimate their colour onto the host paper - which usually has a glossy photo finish.
I don't think the paper will be defective, you have just got the wrong type for our kind of sublimation

It was the paper, using trupix now and works fine.
