WANTED - Coaster jig

looking for one of the unisub coaster jigs to try

Ha! Think we are the same with UKPM on this one, we've tried all sorts of jigs from the official one to getting our own made by a fabrications company.

Nothing was any good, so back to sticking each coster one by one.

Good luck with that - don't waste your money on the Unisub, it's 5mm too big

digitalblanks has an adjustable pegboard jig where you can move the pins around. Just £350 if you are feeling flush. Does have other precut jigs as well.

Not sure they would handle the heat though Andrew.

Personally I would create my own template from scratch and then get sublimetals to cut it. No idea on how much it would cost but if designed right (with two pieces of metal and silicon washers etc) then it would pay for itself within a couple of thousand coasters as there would be no need for taping or faffing around.

as justin said, bulk coaster jigs from these guys ? - if enough were interested...otherwise, its just the ones with spare cash that can afford it - i,m in either way

I feel like I doing a bit of hand holding here guys... however

I have pinged the attached over to Nicci for a rough quote. It is set up for a 40 x 50 heat press and 90mm square coasters. I would recommend you place 1mm silicon "washers" underneath and then a plain sheet of metal.

If you were feeling flush, get two and screw them together. Once pressed you can remove one, put the other one in etc. etc. meaning no press down time.

Design obviously needs tweaking and testing, particularly the slits as they "should" mean no taping of the paper, but the idea is there.

I have no idea how much these would cost although I think it will be sub £30.00. But if you guys talk about 100's or 1000's even then the cost is going to be irrelevant because the speed will save you time.

No taping should also mean no backing peeling...

I have an alternative contact for cut metal if it helps anywhere down the line. This does seem a lot of 'faff' for something we've all been printing for years without issues!

Nice idea SG, but won't this mean that your printer needs to feed dead accurately each time? I've had many printers that don't, and a slight skewing of the printed sheet would knock the alignment out. Just my thoughts, and I may be wrong.
