Hi I have an insta heatpress a4 model 201 and a rivet has broken, the supplier is looking for £100+ for a new handle as the part isn’t available. Any ideas??

Use a greased high tensile steel bolt instead of the rivet. Use a nylon locking nut, or loctite on the nut to keep it at a setting that's not too tight to inhibit motion of the arm, but not to slack that it introduces too much 'play.'

This won’t wink as the handle has to pass this area with only 1-2mm clearance on both sides so there is no space for a lock nut

Ah, right, I see the problem. Maybe a rivet nut with a flat-head metric screw would do the job better.

See if you can find one so that it fits the diameter of the hole in the clamp then find a metric (M) size screw to fit. You may have to cut/file/grind down the rivet and bolt to fit the required width and secure with Loctite.

Have you tried approaching Insta in USA directly rather than a supplier? - I've found them helpful in the past with advice on fault finding and parts supply

Ouch, a £120 rivet.

I have the same press, but I can see mine going the same way, as one of my products requires very heavy pressure.

Just curious, does your press rise to full temperature every time? Mine can stall at around 177-180 degrees when I first turn it on, until I reset the the temperature control and it kicks into action.

For £120 I wouls have made a rivet from mild steel, and kept a few spares for failures

Apparently it’s a weak spot and the new model doesn’t have this problem but I needed to get it fixed ASAP so I paid the £100+vat for the whole replacement toggle. My press doesn’t have any issues with temp control at all, touch wood lol
