Oil can mug prints
Re: Oil can mug prints
Hi looking for some Mug artwork, the ones I have seen are a dirty oil can look
ie: Texaco/Shell/Valvoline.. I have searched and found a supplier but at a cost.
They want apx £55 wich isnt bad for about 50 styles but a lot of them are random
companies ive never heard of. anyone do these and got any contacts for the artwork..
TIA Alan

I know who you are referring to, which raises 2 questions.
1/ Shell etc, trademarks?
2/ If I was buying 50 designs for £55, I look at how long would it take me to make the designs, then work out what it would cost at my hourly rate, in this case a lot more than £55. How many sales I need to get my investment back, for £55 not many.

The guys that are selling these trademark and copyrighted images are in blatant infringement of the law that governs the UK. Personally I would steer well away from these type of templates and concentrate on being creative yourself and not copying/stealing designs (please do not take offence to that, it is not meant in a nasty way).
Paul, a member on this forum does sell some retro mug templates that might be a better way to go for you. I have tagged him as I am not sure on his exact website address

Actually, when a first saw these type of prints a good while ago, I thought I'd have a bash at making a WD-40 mug for my own use. I rattled off a quick design in Photoshop that looked ok. I then made the mistake of uploading the design to Redbubble where I sold only 2 or 3 before it was taken down for infringement. Lesson learned!
