Are mug sleeves a universal fit or do you need to buy a specific sleeve for each make of press? Something that went through my head this morning (not a long trip) just curious while I'm sipping a coffee.

I assume you mean mug blankets
If this is the case then you should always purchase the one sold by the company who supplied the machine.
There are some that work across a few brands (as they are just rebranded machines), but unless you definitely know then it might go bang next time you plug it in.
