Re: Adkins mug press - fuse blowing

Post by weecstar »

I’ve had the Adkins/Xpres multi mug press For a couple of years now but it’s been very lightly used. Today I tried using it and it turned on but when I pressed the start button, it went dead. I checked the fuse and it had blown. Went and bought a few new fuses. Tried 4 times and same thing happened. Also tried new plug leads and plugging it into different sockets. Does anyone know why this is happening before I contact Xpres tomorrow about a repair?

Hi, I put in a 3A glass cartridge fuse as recommended by Xpres

Are you replacing the fuse in the plug? or in the machine? Id guess at in the machine with a glass fuse.

simple things to try.
Try a different power lead.
Try a different plug socket in the room.

I had an issue with my mug press and the earth lead inside had come loose and was shorting out every time i turned it on.
Depends if its under warranty, if it is send it back. If not and if your able to just remove the covers and have a little look or get a local handyman / electrician to look at it.
. . . . . . . . . . .

Thanks Fletcher. I phoned Adkins and it turns out it is the element that is faulty. I never thought to try a different one! Now working but I’ll need to buy a new ordinary mug size element. Thanks for your help
