Re: Problem -Adkins Press Green Power Light
Sods law says that when I am low of staff then the heat press stops working! We have an Adkins Maxi Press and when we power on via the side green rocker switch then it stays on for a few seconds, heats up but then the green rocker light flickers, buzzes and turns off. We turn back on and the same thing happens. Any ideas please before I contact Adkins on Monday of course? Olly

Could be the heating element failed?
If you set a low temp does it still do it and by low I mean bottom of range.

The press heated up to 190c before I switched off as wasnt ready for it. When I turned back on that is when the switch kept failing. I will certainly try your idea when back at studio tomorrow so thank you.
Re: Problem -Adkins Press Green Power Light
Most likely switch contacts burnt out inside, replacement switch and any damaged connectors/wires and maybe fuse holders (though mine were fine but still bought them in case)
Adkins sell what they describe as a kit to fit yourself which is switch, fuses and holders, couple wires and connectors under £40 something I think, switch is a fiver or you can return it for a full assessment and overhaul (but more than £200 doesn’t include heat plate). Either way I would stop using it.
Edit : I wrote a post about mine doing this and looking back at it just now, you said you would send yours off if it happened to you, rather than play with fire you would give it a spar day. I think they will lend you one while yours is overhauled just ask about that when you call them they are very helpful.

Thank you. Will leave off until I speak to them and hopefully the kit will sort it.

Brilliant. Got the new switch and fuse pack and just rocker switch and cables needed changing and back up and running. Quite worrying that it looks like switch started to melt Eek.

Yep that's why I suggested you stop using it because when they go it does look somewhat dangerous!
With the kit you get it back up and running much quicker (and cheaper) than sending it off
Loving the Covid 19 protection gloves there too

Yes I can't believe how dangerous it could of been especially as I have staff here using it all day. Thankfully fixed now and gloves thrown away quick

That must be a design flaw.
that would suggest there’s too much current running through that switch.
That can’t be safe.
