petrol prices hike
Re: petrol prices hike
How will the petrol prices effect your business, I do know when I order stock again the cost of transpot will be added to the bill, I know I cannot afford to asborb the cost, it will effect me to man who delivers my till rolls down to the customers that has to pay the high parking charges ( another topic) which in turns means I have to raise prices to cover the cost of everthing, as I still have to pay rent, wages, tax, NI electric, packageing and thats just of the top of my head. How about the rest of you
I ask my self is it worth it

Re: petrol prices hike
I paid £1.20 a litre last week and I've seen it at £1.22 a litre today. We generally pay a fair bit more up here for petrol and there are very few garages....No Tesco petrol either!
I work for a haulage company, goodness knows how much more they'll be paying.

Re: petrol prices hike
£1.20 that's shocking
I moaned at £1.07 !!
Very difficult times.. My business absorbed such increased for a long time until this year I had to increase some of my prices.
We were 4 full time staff and 1 part time, unfortunately due to wage increases now we are now only two full time, I have one guy who mainly is in the shop by himself and myself making any time off difficult and a strain as when we are busy we can't cope very well.
Unfortunately I am in a dying town with shops closing aroud often, frightening times, where will it go?
The big guys are thriving and sqashing us as we just can't compete.
What about the vat when it goes up, will you guys be adding this on to your retail prices?

Re: petrol prices hike
I will be adding on the new vat changes when the go up in the new year and the website will have to be adjusted as well. We have also abrorbed various increases and have not pass them on, but we can not keep doing it, your right about shops closing ect but this will not really effect people doing it for a hobby or to earn a extra income but they will moan all the same. If you paying vat the vat man will want it back. I think that christmas will be quiet and next year we are in for a rougher ride I hope to be proved wrong someone please prove me wrong

I'm concerned about the same things jennywren, what with all our overheads etc. Luckily we have re negotiated our rent for our lease renewal, mind you another 10 years....crikey
I am constantly thinking of things to diversify so I shall probably end up as something totally different

Re: petrol prices hike
I will probably be affected by the price of my materials going up
But directly, it won't affect me at all, I can walk to my shop in 3 minutes
Commuting was never my thing

Re: petrol prices hike
A good issue to raise jennywren, the thing is you hav to find cheaper suppliers that have the same level of finish.
Failing that, you have to pass the increase on or ................
