Re: Epson ET2650 problem

Post by IanB »

Hi Guys & Girls,

After a long day of ripping out my hair, and throwing mugs at the floor im hitting this forum with a question.

A few months ago i started with sublimation & printing my own mugs.

I started with a epson WF2630. Worked, but not perfect. Also the machine didnt recognize the cartidges, so a lot of paper and ink was being wasted. So then i saw an Epson ET2650. Works perfect for me, great quality and with the build in tanks no worries about the cartidges.

But here comes the trouble: everytime when i start to print, for example, today i had a order of 22 mugs, so i print out 22x the desired design. But when the printer has had like 2 or 3 prints, it stops. Then it gives me 1 quarter printed file. EVERY TIME. I dont get it. Why is he doing that? Isn't the machine made for 22 prints in one row? Or does it something have to do with the ink? I use Sublinova ink by the way.

I hope someone can give me answers…

Thank you for reading this.. I'm from Holland and english isnt the best language to write for me...

I have the same issues with my Epsons too.
it’s not always a preset page it’s purely random.

I think it has something to do with print spooler memory?
i haven’t cured it yet and I have wasted probably 100 sheets of paper during the last 5 months.

Have you tried reinstalling the latest drivers for your printer? It may be a corrupted install, or, if Windows installed the driver, then it may have installed an incorrect one.

I have updated the firmware and have updated all the drivers & software on the computer. I was hoping it is a sort of setting wich i can adjust..

Very annoying. I'll try to re-install the whole printer maybe that works..

If it is stopping short, it could be a memory issue or a faulty USB cable. I would try replacing the cable. Then perhaps try printing one design at a time to see if there is a memory issue. The memory could be corrupted completely though.

I've had that with large files - if the problem occurs, I convert any text to curves and if there are any photos, reduce these in file size. Seems to work on a Ricoh!

I had a similar issue which occurred when using the WiFi connection for the 2650.

Once I changed to USB connection it solved the problem, not sure why but must be some kind of software error.

I've had that problem trying to print large files over ethernet (to older large format printers admittedly) but going back to USB fixed the issue.

The other thing to check in Windows is that there is enough free space on your hard disc - as Window creates a print file which is sent to the printer - if there isn't enough space then you will run into problems like this - a multi page document can become quite a large single file - Windows won't send it as individual pages.

Computer we have running the printer has an SSD drive dedicated for the print spool files because of this.
