Can't figure this one out!

I usually use TruePix Classic to sublimate my mugs, but I decided to buy a couple of packs of pre-cut TextPrint-R paper to save time cutting to size. Now for some reason, using my usual press settings, I cannot get deep blacks any longer. Blacks appear just a little washed out.

My normal mug pressing times (using a Genie III mug press) are 180 deg. c for 30 seconds.

I've tried increasing the pressing time in 5-second steps up to an extra 20 seconds, but that didn't work. Also tried lowering the temperature to 170 and 175 with no discernable difference.

I'm using the Sawgrass Print Manager (8.2.1.2993) and have it set to ceramics/glass and TextPrint-R as my paper. I've tried leaving it set to TruePix Classic, but it makes no difference.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

I can’t comment on the paper, but speak to Listawood as I used to use Trupix and regularly asked them to cut it to size for me.

TP classic is a HR - high release paper. TP-R is a ricoh version and is fast drying paper. and it doesn't release that much ink as classic version. You probably would add good amount if time to your pressed mugs to get similar effect.

Thanks for the info, Paul. What would you suggest as a good amount of time/temperature, seeing as my normal pressing with TruePix Paper is 30 seconds once my press has reached180C?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this Martin? i have that paper using sawgrass sg1000 and found that the blacks weren't coming out as sharp as the A-sub paper I used previously.

I gave up with TextPrint! I now use A-Sub (120g) and have no complaints. I buy it in A4 size and then cut it down myself for mugs. I heat my press up to 180c then pop the mug in. Temp goes down a little obviously, then I wait until it gets back to 180c and then I cook for about 50 seconds. I hope that helps a little.

Thanks Martin. I was using A sub before and then my partner ordered 3000 sheets of the textprint R :(
