Re: Are dark colours always more difficult to sublimate?

Post by gazfocus »

Have been printing mugs for a few years, am generally very experienced with the whole process but have been having some really frustrating issues of late.

Ever since I started printing mugs I’ve always had issues with printing darker colours like navy blue and dark greens. Blacks are generally perfect but dark greens and blues either print faded or if I up the temp/time they end up blurry.

It has been suggested that the printer might be depositing too much ink on the paper which I’ll look at but I just wanted to know if I’m the only one struggling with this or is it ‘the norm’?

Printer: Epson ET4700 with custom icc profile
Settings: Plain paper and Max quality
Mugs: Neil Brothers Grade AA 11oz
Paper: Srace
Ink: Inkforinkjet SubDS inks

What press and paper are you using?
I find my blacks come out perfect and never had any issues with them.

Could it be a simple time and temp issue rather than inks and printer probem.

Sorry I should have said, using a BC01 oven (previously used Galaxy Mug Press Pro and Freesub ST210 presses with same issue).

I should have also said that blacks come out perfect, it’s particularly dark greens and navy blues etc.

Odd but I think it may be incorrect If I print without the ICC my blues are almost green but with the profile they are bang on.

I suspect it needs tweaking.

The colours are spot on, they just print either faded or with a ‘glow’. I’ve attached a photo to give you an idea. Image
