Heat press problems

Hi all, just another little post from me sorry to be a pain but I’ve watched so many YouTube videos and read so many threads and posts that are contradicting each other and so now I haven’t a clue.

I just wanted to know.. if the bottom and top of mug is faded does that mean the temp is not high enough or time not long enough? Or the opposite?

If blacks are printing brown does that mean the temp is too high? Or the time too long or both?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Fading at the bottom can be lack of heat in that area don't forget that the base of the mugs absorb heat so will be colder.. I pre heat my mugs for a minute or 2 at about 120c to get some heat in.. My press only starts the countdown when target temperature reached

My blacks go brown with too much heat.. Than can be either time or temperature

I use 180c for 185 seconds when preheated

My press has a preheat function

But before that press u used to put just the base in the press and full temp no image for about 30 seconds.. And let rest for another 30 if I could feel a little heat in the centre of the base I would press

In my current press yes I pre heat image on as ink won't transfer at 110c

To pre-heat my press you put in a blank mug, Close the press and allow to get to temp, then put in your mug with the image, that said as above you can / should preheat your mug, I use boiling water I pour in the mug, leave for 5 min or so and then apply the image after drying the inside and out.
