Roland BN-20 - Question for any current owners

I've been at a friends unit today running some vinyl cuts through. Her BN-20 is incredibly slow at cutting. I am aware these machines are very slow printing but I thought cut only would be much quicker. It seems to stutter every few seconds. I'm almost thinking it's like there's interference on the netwrok that is casuing it to pause.

Interested to hear from anyone with same machine whether this is normal? TIA

I would assume it is slow at both as there is no servo operating the head unit. Even though the cutter detaches from the print head carraige it still uses the same sensing strip and the movement is still on the same unassisted belt.

I had a similar issue with my printers cutting out every few seconds. Turns out it was a power management issue with the computer turning off the USB to save power.[ATTACH=CONFIG]6983[/ATTACH]

Mine doesn’t do this but it is slow.
Compared to the graphtec it’s painful but then I don’t use it just to cut.

You should see my BN-20 in conjunction with my GX24
Its going like stink! I only print on bn20 this days.

What's the point in paying for a combined printer/cutter if you end up buying another dedicated cutter?

For me the printer was purchased a long time after the graphtec so not an issue but I’m happy with the bn-20 overall.
Would I recommend anyone buy one…. No definitely not unless it’s for small jobs with little use.

So, back to the original question....looks like this is to be expected? It's not my machine, I would never have bought it personally.

My cutting unit is attached to the print head and does not separate.
Maybe a different variant ??
Either way its slow cutting.

you are right. there is almost no point buying NAY print and cut machine if you thinking "Production". But if you need small eco solvent for smaller stuff and already got rolland cutter, it would be rude not to use them.
