Re: Help with Royal Mail business account

Post by DanEC33 »

Hi All,

Quick question regarding Royal Mail business accounts.

I sell online via eBay and Etsy – only shipping large letters and small parcels. I buy my shipping labels from the platform the sale was made. I’m currently paying £1.90 for a large letters (under 250g) and £3.19 for a small parcels (under 1kg). I buy the label and then just post into a post box on my way to work.

I have finally passed the 20 orders a week shipped requirement and can now open a Royal Mail business account. Does anyone know how easy the process of opening an account is and linking to both eBay and Etsy? Also, what are the prices like and is there anything else I should know before signing up?

Thanks.

Even if you don't have an account you can link Etsy and Ebay to their Click and Drop website/service to buy postage direct from them.
The business account version is mostly the same, except you pay weekly/monthly on account rather than per item/day

Account set up is relatively easy, with not much b yway of forms to fill in.

I have an oba with RM and I abandoned it after 3 months use.
click and drop is easier by miles.

I got fed up having to store bags ties and labels for all the different mail.
the paperwork was stupid and click and drop I just open the page and select which orders I want to ship and which service.

checkout and done.
I then either drop them to my sorting office or book them for collection free of charge.

it’s really easy to use and if you set up the weights and sizes etc it’s all automated and you only need to click buy postage.

Im pretty sure the cost is less too.
if you do open a oba it’s handy for the free labels and cables ties.

I would leave the business account. They have a long list of surcharges/ fines if you make a mistake with something. You are subject to spot checks on your deliveries and the tracked options are more expensive than the consumer version of Click and Drop.
