Facebook users, check this amazing app out
Re: Facebook users, check this amazing app out
I clicked it, but I just get a message telling me to use a PC because it uses Flash. I guess that means me and my fellow 90 million iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch users are excluded from the party. Would have thought that a business as big as intel would be a little less restrictive.

Yes, I know what you mean. This is why I got an Android phone - because you can't run Flash on the iPhone...
...except that you can't run flash on my android phone either, because the manufacturer won't update the OS - they want you to buy the newer phone. In the meantime, I'm stuck in a 2 year contract without Flash on my Android phone.
I may as well not run Flash on an Apple device rather than not run Flash on an Android device because, unlike Android, I knew I couldn't run flash on Apple devices in the first place.
All those hollow promises of Android has put me right off it. When my contract is up, I'm not getting an Android device again.

is not upto android. Is all about phone company want to pay for os. android is only open source kernel (i think this is the word). So you need to research first before you buy your phone as all system are diferent. Btw. On galaxy tab you can use flash so i think you could you on other samsung android phones....

This is the fundamental flaw with the Android concept. It's up to the phone manufacturer to release the new OS, but they don't make money by supporting old phones. They only make money from selling the new one. So it's in their interest to *not* release the newer OS for the previous phone in order to force you to buy a new phone.Paul;24383 wrote:is not upto android. I did do research first. On all the Apple forums, everyone said "there's no flash but we don't need it", and all the anti-Apple forums were filled with people saying "buy Android because Apple don't support flash" - the implication being that Android supported Flash. So you need to research first before you buy your phone as all system are diferent. So I went with a popular phone from a respectable manufacturer (Samsung Galaxy Portal), and I ensured that would have the latest OS at the time (Android 2.1) - only to find myself lumbered with a 2 year contract with a phone that had no more support for Flash than the Apple iPhone would have.
Every time someone asked Samsung if they would release Android 2.2 for this phone, Samsung's response was the equivalent of "buy the new one".
In many ways the lack of Flash on Android is worse than on the iPhone. On my iPod Touch or iPad, I can watch the BBC iPlayer - but I can't on my Android phone because they stopped the app from being able to do so when then BBC released their own app - except that the iplayer app for Android requires Flash, which isn't require on the iPhone version.
In short, my experience of Android has put me right off. Although Apple uses the "walled garden" approach, at least you can see the walls. Android has the same kind of walls, it's just that you can't see them until you run into them.
Oh well. Water under the bridge now. A lesson learned is a lesson learned. Less than a year now before I can have a new phone.
