HELP! any idea guys what's causing this?
Re: HELP! any idea guys what's causing this?
What printer are you using? I used to see something similar to this when using my Epson 1400 with Easyflow CISS.
It used to always be on the left side of the print (but I had High Speed turned off, so it might have occurred on both sides if I didn't). It mostly came from the black (I don't know why that would push yellow out, but it did). My only "fix" for it - because it happened with the black - was to reduce all full-blacks to <95% black (making it very deep green or blue), which forces the printer to use the colour inks but is still black enough to look black. It never happened when I did that.
I never resolved the problem, but switching to refillables seemed to reduce the effect. I don't use that printer much now, so I don't know if it would have been a permanent solution.
Sorry that this doesn't solve your problem, but I'm interested in any solution you come up with.

Re: HELP! any idea guys what's causing this?
The only thing I could think of beyond what is that there could be debris on the end of some of the nozzles. Flushing through wouldn't particularly get rid of external ink at the end of the nozzle which could affect the angle of the way the ink comes out. Try resting the head onto a damp paper towel at the docking station for 5 minutes.
I have heard a few times before that people get a yellow haze and it always seems to be yellow not other colours creating a haze. Very strange one.

Re: HELP! any idea guys what's causing this?
I've never used Elements or Coral, yet it still happened with me - whether I used Qimage, or a freebie app, or even direct from my DTP. I don't think it's a software issue. I think it's a hardware issue, but I can't think what might cause it.
Re: HELP! any idea guys what's causing this?
Yep - I'm more in line to thinking it's a hardware issue, either the printhead has some debris (as Andrew said) or the profile or the ink transfer .................. will try parking the head over the paper towel for 30minutes to see if that helps.
Again - thank you so much guys, I really appreciate everyone's efforts in trying to help
(will give rep points out later, I won't forget)

Re: HELP! any idea guys what's causing this?
I used to think of the "debris" angle, but for me it happened even if I just printed black (no other colours printing). Maybe the printer still used the colours, despite printing 100% black, but the issue didn't happen when I reduced the black to being a deep blue or deep green (so all colours would be used).Andrew;36819 wrote:The only thing I could think of beyond what is that there could be debris on the end of some of the nozzles. I never did figure out what the issue was.
Re: HELP! any idea guys what's causing this?
Well ........................
I parked the heads over a bit of kitchen roll that I had put soeme of the cleaning fluid that I use on. I then did a nozzle check and it was slightly blocked. I printed out a colour chart to hopefully help unblock what was there without keeping on pressing the 'head clean' button (because we all know, although it's tempting, that we shouldn't just keep clicking that as it can cause a bigger blockage if ink cannot get through).
I printed off the same design, repressed it onto another bib and it is 99% better! - to be honest I think it's 100% but I just want to park it back up on a fresh piece of towel just in case.
(just adding the bit below for ref for future problems)
So .........
No problem with the software
No problem with the paper
No problem with the substrates
No problem with the ICC profile
No problem with the ink itself
It turned out that it was (probably) a simple blockage/piece of debris that was causing the blow out and a yellow haze.
Hopefully all is sorted - thank you to everyone that replied and offered advice it is really appreciated

Re: HELP! any idea guys what's causing this?
Whenever we get a stubborn blockage we can't clear we always park it on damp paper towel etc. at the docking station. Pure witch hazel is another solution that can be used if you don't have cleaning solution but water is often enough to break down any ink on the outer of the nozzle.
