first printer for sub printing

pc world got a sale on just now - EPSON Stylus Photo 1400 Photo Inkjet Printer - was £299 - now £199..

will be using it for sublimation printing.....

do coral sell sub ink ?

Photo 1400 will be fine. If you get an empty CISS then factor in the ink cost which will be 6x £50 (plus vat) for 6x 125ml bottles of ink. Or you can buy a CIS filled with 600ml of sublimation ink for around £265 +vat - so you get a CIS and inks plus support from an authorised dealer for less than the cost of buying ink separately.

Coralgraph sell ordinary ink, but not sublimation ink.

i see the value of the bulk buy guys.....like everyone else - want to keep costs down @ start - to see if A - i,m gonna like it
B. its gonna take off and make me a little more cash income on top of my job...

You can't (legally) buy bulk inks to use in a small format printer. You need a large format printer for this. Only official route is to get Artainium, Rotech, Subli inks etc.

You may be able to source third party inks and could well use them very successfully but it's not something we can discuss on the forum here due to the small printer patent imposed by Sawgrass.

I would go down the Ricoh gel printer road, especially if you're just starting out, it's easier to set up, no need for bulk systems and a whole lot cleaner, and you get get the whole bundle in one box.

... but you do pay more going the Ricoh route - the printer itself being more expensive than the Epsons, and you are definitely tied to Sawgrass' own expensive ink - no alternative option. And you have less choice of printer models to suit your needs.

Full set up from BMS cost me just under £400 inc VAT, to buy a decent quality Epson a4 printer then the bulk system then the ink and then get a profile, and as Justin said "sawgrass is the only legal route for ink for small format printers" then all the wasted ink involved in head cleaning if it's not used in a while and be pulling your hair out trying to get the thing to work, in my opinion the cleaner self contained package that the Ricoh offers is worth it......just my opinion each to their own
