Re: My Short Introduction

Hello all,

My name is Philip and I have finally registered after discoverng your forum about a month ago. So far I've just been reading posts to get info on sublimation. I didn't know much about the process before but feel much more knowledgable now after a month of reading but no practical experience as yet.

For my new business venture I didn't know what process I would need so knew nothing about sublimation until I started looking into how I could produce the products I need. I am concentraing on a niche market that I am involved in and there seems to be a gap in that space so I'm hoping it will do well. I think I have approached this the right way round, I've found the target market and then found out how I can produce the products I need, which seems to be a combination of sublimation for custom and small runs and screen printing for larger runs. I get the feeling that some people get all the equipment then look for a market?

I'm currently outsourcing the work but eventually I need to get my own equipment for obvious reasons, more flexibilty and control and lower per unit costs. I work full time and this venture will be a part time venture which I can do evenings and weekends which fits in with my niche market very well. Most of my work will be one offs as I will be doing artwork and designs for this which is why sublimation seems to fit so well as it's digitally produced. My designs can go from Photoshop to print to product to customer. As I'm involved in graphic artwork and illustrations I can also offer this to other forum members if anyone needs it?

I've just bought an Epson 1400 off a forum member on here so that will be my normal A3 printer (not sublimation). Still undecided on the printer model for sublimation, Ricoh or Epson, I think Ricoh will be better as it's not likely to be used daily.

Anyway, as this is suppose to be a short intro I'll stop here... great forum by the way, good work!

Regards, Philip

Thanks for the welcome guys

John.. can you screen print onto transfer paper (aka plastisol transfers) so I can then apply to garments later with a heat press? If so I'm very interested in this from you.

Hi Philip,
Sorry I cannot do this - I may be looking into doing this in the future though.

I think someone on the forum buys in plastisol transfers, so hopefully, they'll be along soon to offer you advise.

Cheers John

Will this be any time soon John? I have been looking for someone to get designs pre-made for me and it would be good to the job 'in-house' as they say :-)
