Re: Ricoh GX 3300N red colour problem
Hi,
I use 8 pieces of Ricoh GX 3300N on my job, and all have problems with red colour, looks too pink, or orange on mugs.
I used settings from Sawgrass site, already changed some e-mails with them, with no results.
I used correct paper, correct profiles (from CD or sawgrass site), correct settings with Mac OS, Photoshop CS5.
What can i do more?
Already tried different image adjustments in Photoshop and driver, with bad results.
Other colours looks good, but red is too bright, pink, or orange, not a clear red.
Please give me some ideas how to obtain a good red on my sublimation printers.
Thanks,
Edmond

What temp and time are you using for mug printing and what inks do you have in the printer?

180 seconds
the ink is Sublijet-R from sawgrass
i already tried different time settings and
temperatures ...
Re: Ricoh GX 3300N red colour problem
Can you confirm you have tried 170 degrees for 2 minutes (2 minutes from when the heat blanket returns to 170 degrees)?edmond1815;39266 wrote:180 degrees Celsius

I just tried with your suggestions. Evan more bad results.
I will atachhed the original photo, my settings, and your sugesttion to see the results.
The results are similar on different printers and heat presses.
Software settings are exactly acording to sawgrass site.
Thank you!

Check your cyan, it may need a little head clean.
Can you not use the powerdriver with a mac?
Cheers John

1. Nozzle check are perfect. I already cleaned the heads.John G;39293 wrote:Check your cyan, it may need a little head clean.

2. On mac there is no powerdriver. Only ICC profile.
Any ideas?
There isn't a problem with printer or heat press. I have 8 printers, with differents heat presses with aproximative same results with red.
Re: Ricoh GX 3300N red colour problem
It could just be that the ICC profile isn't good enough. In all my years of doing dye-sublimation, I've never been happy with the provided Sawgrass profile. They're just too generic. Admittedly, I've not used Ricoh printers so I don't know if they're more accurate, but you may find you save yourself lots of stress by getting a custom profile made for your specific printer.edmond1815;39297 wrote:There isn't a problem with printer or heat press. Many places offer custom profiles, but I would recommend forum member Paul as he knows what we're doing with them when it comes to dye-sub. If you're a premium forum member (£10 pa), you can save yourself £10 per profile - check out this link: http://www.dyesubforum.co.uk/vbforum/sh ... ium-mebers!
It can't hurt to PM him and ask for advice. He's very helpful and friendly.
Re: Ricoh GX 3300N red colour problem
The colours are getting better on the lower temperature. But the blurred image on the far right might suggest it is still being overcooked. I would be inclined to drop the temp/time further. It might be worth a couple of further tests (smaller images to save wasting lots of mugs). Put a small print on one side of a mug. Try temp 170 degrees, 90 seconds; Temp 160, 60 seconds.edmond1815;39289 wrote:Hi bms,

Is there a happy medium between these settings? What are the results like?
