Re: sun stroke
it usually takes affect as the sun goes down funnily enough so it wakes you up the 1st night
the next day u feel yuk but after that ur usually ok
drinks loads of water as it's basically similar to a hangover your skin is drawing all the moisture out of your body so you need to replenish it
plenty of rest and fluids u'll be fine

Re: sun stroke
Lavender would be the best thing for that. Once happened to me and I had to spend most of the night laying in a shallow cold bath
I read about wearing a soaking wet t-shirt and having a fan blowing onto you!
Worst place to be is on or even in the water due to the reflection.

Re: sun stroke
I lived in southern Spain for 15 years and know what you mean. And in summer, Germany is even hotter than Spain.
The fan is a good idea but dont sit in the direct breeze from it, it will dry you out even more and your body will pull more liquids from your center core and dehydrate you . Just let the fan cool the room. Drink lots of water to rehydrate and you might need some extra salt or sugar in your system ( not sure which ) .
And take warm showers. Stings at first but it helps.
These tricks worked for me. Good luck .

Re: sun stroke
drinking salt water will make you sick.
but yes you need natural body salts the best for this is something dyrolate from the chemist
for when u have the trotts it replenishes the body's natural salts.
oh and yes i do have a medical background lol
i used to help out on the first aid courses when i was 10-15 so i was helping train ppl to be a 1st aider lol
i always wanted to be a medic but failed the medical due to having asthma
was good fun for a youngster we used to go mountain climbing, ab-sailing, sea rescue, fire training all sorts
i used to have loads of medals for competitions we won
i came 1st in the norfolk comp for fire training when i was 14.
wish i would of kept going but u know what it's like being 15 and male with all them women about lol
but at least i have kept my 1st aid certificate up to date
although the courses are funny as it's like trying to teach someone to suck eggs so to speak

Also ask you mother to pop into Boots or any chemist and ask for 'electrolytes' drinks. This will replenish the body salts and help recovery. Once in Belize I got burned badly and it took about 2 weeks to recover. If possible once the burn has gone and you can bear anyone touching the burn area get a regular application of coconut oil on it. It worked in my case and helped a lot easing the inevitable 'peeling'.bigj2552;46494 wrote:cheers guys - asked my mother if she would go out today and buy me a large fan....

As for the immediate pain easing....If it's a bad sunburn IMO expect 3-4 days for gradually getting 'comfortable' and maybe longer depending on how bad it is.
