What am i doing wrong?

Attempting to do my slates with my new press and seem to be running into problems.

Tried my old settings, 420 seconds medium-heavy pressure. BUt it came out weird.

Went heavy and 450 seconds and the attached image is what i have, its fine around edges but the centre is still funny!!

Tried another at 9 minutes at medium pressure (as bsm recommend) but that was worse!

Didyou preheat the slate and silicone mat first ?
On the firt slates we done had a similar problem but then took advice of others and started to do the above now its rare we get a problem.

NO i did'nt - would that not cause soem transfer when putting the paper onto the slate once it is heated? or do i need to be accurate and get it on right firsat time?

Can't beleive differnece between this press and my old one!

Check the link below plus am not sure but if you read the tips on photo slates on the BMS site you will see same advice as i mentioned

always preheat your stone. is hard to attach the paper to it but print looks perfect. silicon matt need to be hot too :)

I always use these when doing my slates as i found i was having problem after problem with silicon mat

i simply tape about 6 together with heatproof tape and hey presto never had a single problem and i've printed 100's using this method.

Yeah just put about 6 on top of each other and tape them at each end just to hold them together (this makes them easier to handle).
