I am using Target "Soft Jet" transfer paper for light garments, and am having a problem with the backing paper sticking to garment after pressing.
I am attempting to print a 2/3 A4 image, which I have trimmed to leave about 25mm around image, at Targets' recommended 170 degree C at 17 seconds at moderate pressure and I am trying to remove hot as per instructions.
However when I try to remove backing paper it sticks to image and will not come off.
Any suggestions as to what is causing this?

Re: Backing sheet sticking to garment after pressing
are you peeling the image and then pressing it on, using the backing sheet then as a facing sheet ?? or are you pressing the printed sheet face down onto the garment ??

Re: Backing sheet sticking to garment after pressing
Image is face down to garment and backing sheet is on top, then after pressing I try to remove backing sheet but it sticks to transferred image and garment.mrs maggot;47624 wrote:are you peeling the image and then pressing it on, using the backing sheet then as a facing sheet ?? or are you pressing the printed sheet face down onto the garment ??
The paper I am using is Targets own "Soft Jet" and I am following instructions to the letter.
How do you determine "Moderate" pressure. I always thought that you used the following guidelines;
Light pressure is when you can open platen with basically a flick of the wrist
Moderate is when you have to exert a bit of pressure with one hand to raise platen
Heavy is when youn early need two hands to open platen
Is this correct?

how hot is your bottom platen ??. Pre heat the bottom platen in order to aid HOT Peel. A cold platen may cause too much heat
loss and cause the paper to be difficult to remove.

A tad confused as to what release paper is. I am using paper as it comes out of pack and covering with Teflon sheet.mrs maggot;47627 wrote:and do you have their release paper ???
I am preheating bottom platen by closing press (at 170 C) and leaving closed for 30 secs then inserting garment and pre-pressing shirt for 10 seconds

Re: Backing sheet sticking to garment after pressing
give them a call in the morning, i have always found them to be very helpful - are you leaving the small unprinted border that they mention? and are your pulling straight away throwing caution to the wind and giving the transfer a good pull ??
