you wont get advise on chinease inks here im afraid sawgrass hold the monopoly on small format printing and as such the admin here will only allow discussion on sawgrass inks

No problem just one thought though remember if you do go down the non licensed route you wont have the sawgrass support and you will need to pay some one to set profiles up for your ink now cant say any more or the men in blackk will track me down

Unless you have already made your mind up why not go 'legal' and get the support that comes from the suppliers and in turn the forum. Going the non sawgrass route means if you have problems the forum will, as I understand it not be permitted to assist openly.

There are good inks coming out of China (and the surrounding countries/areas) along with cheap rubbish. Stay clear of stuff on places like Ebay that look cheap in the packaging/branding etc, as they are more likely to be the cheap rubbish, which could damage your printer at worst, or just not print well. Some non-Sawgrass brands have entered license agreements with Sawgrass to enable them to produce and sell sublimation inks legitimately - these ones are likely to be a little more expensive than the cheap Chinese inks, but not as expensive as the Sawgrass own brands.

Just because an ink is sold outside of the "Sawgrass System" doesn't necessarily make the seller a cowboy, and they can offer you help, support and advice, not just in your initial sale, but in helping you get set up and running after the sale - it is good to ask before buying what support the seller can offer you.

A bit of googling will lead you to a lot of information about inks, Sawgrass, and the whole patent debate, including on this forum along with others. There is a thread in this forum called "Which Printer" which does discuss some of these issues. HERE

have you thought of getting a forum member to print you a few designs up that you can try , its an easy way to test the water without the initial cost

Not true. We.cant recomend ink on open forum etc but we always trying to help any one regardless of where tue ink is coming from and what printer was used

edit.
There is legal ink to buy on ebay. Inktech. I belive its sawgrass licensed ink and very good quality. But iam not sure what printer you planing to use.
