Re: Ricoh GX7000 not powering up

Post by Kaz »

Hi guys, long time no see :)

My Ricoh isn't powering up, well, the lights flash and then go off again. From doing a bit of research, it would appear that it's a common problem with this printer when used with sawgrass inks, somehow manages to knacker the power supply :(

Does anyone know where I can get replacement parts for it, apart from from the states?

Also, I've had it for just over 2 years, and not used it for about a year since we moved house, but research is showing some conking out after just a few months of seldom use aswell.

Do you think it would be covered under SoGA and is it worth pursuing it down that route?

Any suggestions welcome

Thanks

Only one solution, to buy another one. Sorry to be so blunt.

Don't really want to spend another £500 plus on something that's not going to last.

It wasn't used that much either in the first year of having it.

It seems to be a known fault with them, from research, and I think it's bad that you can't buy spares for them here either. Ricoh should be doing something about this, even outiwth warrnaty time, that's why I'm wondering if SoGA comes into play with it as it's not fit for purpose and housl last longer than it has.

Hi Paul, thanks for that, will give Martin a call, easier than email.

We switched it on at the weekend, it went through it's maintenance regime and was working OK, went to switch it on today, th elights flashed and then went off and won't powet on. Blooming typical causes I've just landed a couple of new clients, grrrr

might be a bit of a daft suggestion but have you checked the fuse? suggested because of flashing lights and then the thing dying.

Hi Roger, it' snot the fuse, sadly.

This is a known fault with these printers when they've not been used in a while.

I've spoken to Martin, and he's requested some info from me and is going to contact sawgrass on my behalf.

Wow, searching the net for dead GX7000 printers leads to numerous examples of the printer dying using SG cartridges manufactured before end of 2010 and suggestions that really SG cartridges dated after 2012 are a safer bet. It does seem that not using the printer for a while leads to an increased failure rate and that there are no spares available. Interesting read at http://www.t-shirtforums.com/dye-sublim ... 32123.html.
