Well, as the title says, I got one!

It'll print up to 44" wide, is in great nick and works flawlessly. All I gotta do now is learn how to use it but first I need a suitable RIP software.

Any info/tip appreciated.

Cheers

I would say you could print with the Epson Driver/Photoshop combination if you want. Being 44" you can use cheaper better ink than what Sawgrass offer to small printers. I'd definitely get custom ICCs made for it. and recommend flushing it through with printer cleaner before loading in whatever inks you end up using. As a printer which needs a light-light-black ink, you are more limited in choice of sublimation ink suppliers, unless you can get a RIP to eliminate that channel?

What are you going to use it for? Are you converting to dyesub or got other plans.

Are you fitting this into the house John along with all the other equipment? Extension on the extension time.

I'm no expert on RIPs but my understanding is they'll do a much better job than printing via the Epson drivers, also saving on ink too.

I'm not planning on converting to dye-sub or using other than the Epson inks.

Hoping to do some posters & canvas printing - after the learning curve.

Angie's house is bursting at the seams and more bares more resemblance to an industrial unit!! God knows where the new NeoFlex is going when it arrives!!

Are you sure that you do not already have RIP inside one of your cutter software packages? I know that Flexi10 has RIP but no idea if it is usable with your printer.

Print from photoshop through the drivers and have a look at this site as it will give you some great info on fine art printing onto canvas etc.

I used to have a 9660 and it was a wonderful machine. You can download generic profiles for a number of papers the link is on the Bairart website. Have a spare wastetank handy as they tend to go fairly quickly. Ours certainly did as we were using it in a commercial environment like yourself so it got a lot of use.Have fun its a great printer.

...Or have a chip resetter handy, and empty it when it gets full

I am so jealous lol I would dearly love a printer capable of printing posters or canvases. Hope everything turns out ok with the printer.

Thanks for the replies guys

I only have one RIP at present and that's for our NeoFlex DTG printer based on CMYK + White.

The BlairArt site looks interesting - thanks for the link.

The 9800 uses the same maintenance tank as the 4880/NeoFlex so we're well equipped with chip resetters :)

Off to my day job now!

Cheers
