Re: Reset Carts / Airlock Problems

Post by meldean »

Is it just me or does everybody else have airlock problems.

I have a epson s22 and yes i know its not a supported printer complete with reset carts. I have had it 1 week and already had 2 airlocks.

Can someone please advise the best way to clear airlocks as at the moment i have to take out the cartridges. Remove the 2 rubber bungs from front and back and then replace cartridge and run with ruber bungs out for a while. Surely this cant be right.

Any tips much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have 3 different Epson printers here running on refil carts and haven't had any issues with them at all. Your carts the ones with 2 rubber bungs in the top? Which one do you leave in and which do you take out when carts installed?

I'd be surprised if it's airlocks, more likely clogging with your ink/print head. Have you tried running the printer on standard Epson inks for a while to make sure it's ok?

when carts are installed they are both in and then when i get a problem with airlock i remove both and run printer and they start working again.

Should both bungs be in when installed?

To me it sounds like bad cartridges...

starting to think that myself but i cant help thinking that both bungs should not be in as this would create a vacume inside the cartridge which would surely create a sucking back to cart motion.

That's right. If you have 2 plugs one should be out whilst carts installed. I have a set here with 2 bungs, the front bung is the ink hole for refill'ing and the back bung is the air hole, this back bung should be removed if yours are the same :-) Front bung stays in.

No worries. First set I've had with 2 bungs and you do ask yourself these questions. Should the back bung be in whilst refilling and removed only when carts put in etc.

Mrs. M - Do you just remove the air hole bung, leave out and refil in the machine now then? My other carts I always remove to refil but I have heard of folk leaving them in.
