Just getting started and am super frustrated :(

Ok so let me start from the beginning. I have decided to get into the world of mug printing but with little cash I knew this would be hard! I had a budget of £200 and was recomended a set on ebay which was for an epson s22 printer. Its also came with some SRN sublimation paper and im using a ciss system. Ive cleaned the printer heads and nozzle check comes out fine.The software im using is CorelDraw12. I also bought a mug press from city ink express. Pictures in are in the link which takes you to my photobucket. I purchased some artanium uv+ inks and I have purchased my mugs from ebay with the coating blah blah blah. Well its not so much the mugs that are the problem its more the printouts. The guy I bought the printer off sent me a ICC profile which said would work. Well as I knew to all this I have done a bit of research and it seems to me each printer, paper and ink combination has its own ICC profile. Well I have been messing around with the printer using photo style printing with matte paper and in vivid. My problem is that everything seems to come out with either a green tint or comes out with a flood of ink and the printout is just rubbish! I am assuming I use the softer brighter side of the paper. The images come out at ok quality on some printouts but not on others. I also have in the photobucket album some mugs that I have printed out. If someone can point me in the right direction of how to get some decent quality. I understand with the cheap printer I wont get the greatest quality but Im sure there should be a better quality than what I am getting. Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post! Thankies guys

Well start off by forgetting any fancy paper settings - just use the plain paper setting - that should stop you flooding your paper with excess ink. Then consider getting an ICC profile created for your printer and inks - I doubt very much that the profile you were sent was for an Epson S22 filled with Artanium inks lol. Send 'Paul' a PM on here and he will assist you to get the colours correct.

Other than the colour cast the images look like good for a first attempt or two!

Hi Lewis, The first thing I have to say is the Epson S22 is not a supported printer for doing this kind of work.
You do need to set up your colour management in Corel 12 which is what I use to print all my transfers & you will find this under tools. I've attached an image to show you how I have mine set up. I've also included a link to show you the other settings you need to use for your printer which might help you too. I know everything is for the Epson D88 but, I use an Epson S21 & have found these settings work best for me. http://www.xprestechnical.co.uk/downloa ... nwards.pdf
Just one other thing Paul who is a member of this forum can also make you a custom ICC profile for you. Good luck.

Well done for Ian!
I think you instaled icc but you disnt set corel to us it. Also in your printer profile please e matt paper and photo qualitt. Please swirch icm off. Dont use vivid or other settings as the will mismatch with your icc.

Thanks Paul Paul, the pdf link I've included does show how to set the printer up for the paper settings etc. I have it on paper here & it's a really useful tool to have as I found out when I switched to my new computer.

I have an epson s22 printer and wAs supplied with a ICC Profile from the guy i bought my printer from who used the profile himself.
My colours were way off when i started up printing.
I got Paul to make up my ICC profile for me and WOW i know get wicked results.
I can defo say that out off everything that you buy to start printing onto mugs, the ICC Profile will be the best buy.

Just make sure that you are using a good paper that you are happy with because if you get a profile made for that paper and then decide to switch paper you may find you will need a new profile making.

Paul is defo the guy for profiles though.
