Re: My printer has arrived!

I've just got my new brother 5910DW at last. Now all I have to do is set it up but I've never used wireless before so haven't got a clue how to do it! Technology is not my strong point as you've probably guessed.
Looks like I'll have to wait until dear daughter visits in a couple of weeks time....unless any of you are local to me????

Ok. Unpack printer and make sure that all the packaging has been removed.

Open ink drawer and remove ink cover.
Switch on printer and then follow on screen instructions on installing cartridges.

Setting up wireless is as follows.
Click on menu and then move down to either network or wireless and click ok
printer will start to look for wireless networks.
Select your wireless network from the list and then it will ask you for network key
depending on router you have depends on where your password is.
Most routers display network key on back of router unless you have changed it within admin.
Enter the password / key and hey presto printer is now connected to your network.
Now put install cd into computer and install. Remember to select connected to computer via wireless.

Along them lines anyway.

Hope that helps

Manual for you.

just a thought though. If you have not got the manual then do you not have the install cd.

Damn! Just unpacked the printer completely and it's a german one! Everything on it is in german! As I ordered it from an english company, I never thought it would be anything other than an english version. So, I'm about to package it back up and look for another one. I'm so annoyed!

Ive got the 6490 version. The display is in German and I cant see a way of changing it.
Id ring the supplier to see if you can change it, or learn German, its not hard, it took me only two years:-)

Brother's own links for the manuals. Not sure about LCD language, I cannot find any information on the language settings and it may be market specific.

For those that already own a 5910 here is a link for the latest firmware (again I do not know whether upgrading the firmware would change the language - so I am not advising it for this purpose)

I rang the uk office and he said they should have sent me the english version but as they are sent from Europe he couldn't exchange it, [can't understand that!] so offered a refund and courier collection. So I'm back to square one.
I've just seen that viking are doing it for £119 + vat so if I go through quidco, the price will be about the same as I paid.
