Mug pricing
Re: Mug pricing
All good points - but if you are very cagey about your business, and your buying/selling info - why would you be so supportive of others that give this info away freely.
We have rules on this forum about talking about non sawgrass inks, which is a fairly recent rule. Why can't we have the same type of rule regarding talking about costings? after all, they will all be different depending on the type of business, so non of it is accurate enough and gives a false reading.
Anyway - we will all have to agree to disagree as this one has wheels and will just go on and on!

Re: Mug pricing
It is entirely upto the individual imo. I don't see that I have the right to control what can or can't be said or shared. I did it the hard way with no support and no cheap equipment about when we started but it is different now so I just accept that. If I were to start now I would use what resources I had available to me such as more cost effective equipment and support of forums like these, so I would be a hypocrit to stop others taking the easy option. Simple as that for me.John G;63539 wrote:All good points - but if you are very cagey about your business, and your buying/selling info - why would you be so supportive of others that give this info away freely.
I might sound like a liberal or a soft touch but I save my fights for when it really matters in business.

Re: Mug pricing
Nash I do this all the time now, and do this for them as follows, i charge them my normal retail t shirt price on their "sample to show the wife/hubby/dog thought i would get a cheap one" then i tell them they will get a 100% refund on placement of the order, and normally i get the order, if its for a local club of some sort, the fact that the person has "paid full price for theirs" settles well with the others, even though they are going to get it for free, whether they tell the others or not is not my problem, but normally its that person who has to get the order together size wise etc.NASH;63525 wrote:I just had one customer asking me to quote on 12 t-shirts which i did. Then she said "i`ll take one to show my huband". I said okay then the 1st one will cost 40% more and i`ll refund the difference when you order the other 11. You may ask did she place the order, well the answer is "NO"
i spend half my life quoting on multiples and then sell only one

Re: Mug pricing
as a nwbie to the forum i have benn very gratefull to the experianced people for the help they i have given me even though at times newbies most also be annoying to you. but if you make the rules to strict you will only be left with the experianced people and it will become a very boring forum i have seen this on gundog forums all experts so nothing to talk about. so please be patient with us. as far as pricing and competition goes its always going to be out there and those who are lucking for a fast buck generaly dont make enough quick enough and go onto there next progect i would think a lot of newbies could not compete with the big players i for one could not afford to buy mugs in bulk so therefore pay mor del charges etc how many newbies a couple of years down the line have re paid the advice given with offers of help. i will probably out source 70% of my work to people on this forum i will use people on this forum to do work i cannot do i dont know if this 1k per anum or 20k so to me they will be all sorts of people come on the forum some for the better some you could do without but my point is i think we should welcome all to keep the forum intresting and growing this is only a personal veiw

Re: Mug pricing
Without being rude, but why participate in a forum if all you are going to do is train up another newbie who is going to compete with you? Jealously guarding secrets isn't what forums do best! If BMS come along and advertise that 36 mugs are on offer at £36, it doesn't take a genius to work out the costs. Sawgrass have an ink cost per mug listed on their site and I'm sure than one of the sub suppliers listed typical profit per mug on one of their starter kits.

£6.99 is about average and as I said, it isn't a great industry secret. If the OP is going to generate profits like the big hitters above, good luck to him, but that's who we're up against.
