Hi everyone,
I was wondering how best to print a Pantone specific colour on a mug, I know there are lots of variables, heat, time, temp, ink type, paper type etc but wondered if this was actually possible?

Re: Pantone code?
It's never a good idea to try and pantone match with sublimation. Getting very close is possible but it's tricky. It's also a pain if you produce something and the customer comes back wanting a few more mugs....you may have a slightly different batch of mugs, working temperatures and so on can all create small changes to your final print.
I produce very specific colours and different skin tones for a customer and I also print mugs with a design that is a scanned piece of material. The customer wanted this to look like the material was just stuck on the mug but you have to be realistic in what you can achieve

Thanks for that - it sounds like a lot of bother! As a learner I can do without the hassle, quick thought though, if the "test template" that Paul designed for mug printing included some pantones, would that make it easier to try, or would I just be digging a hole?!
