Re: Samples !

Post by bigj2552 »

just done another couple of rather, long jobs on phone cases tonight.

can i ask you guys, how far are you gonna go in customisation of a phone case ?
lady bought 2 cases tonight and uploaded pics - the kid in the pic along with his mum, had a lot of face glare, like 70% of his face side was glare.
i gave her the samples as she gave me them, she then asked if i could "take out the face glare on the kids face in photoshop or something"

Hmm i said ok but....then i thought - this aint a ten minute job in photoshop  if you want to get the skin tone matching....and it wasnt  45mins and its done....

my question is here - how far are you guys willing to go for a customer regarding something like this ?
is it...
part of the job and get on with it
or
tell them to upload another pic
or
thats it - take it or leave it ( politely of course).

between samples by email (as per earlier post ), and fixing images for people, this is really fast becoming a long winded, time consuming process, which in turn is keeping me from uploading any more stock as i aint got the time - unless its after 1am when no one is up and about - by that time i,m knackered, or my eyes are anyway !

yeh we give great customer service and we are fussy about quality, but is there a point here when you can be TO FUSSY ? -

Like you I will do what I can to help a customer.. this is what keeps them coming back..

I think if it were to take too long.. I would explain that you would need to either have another image.. or you would have to charge maybe a small fee ??

Sometimes customers who aren't into technology, think it's just a case of pressing a button to change an image..

You are a professional, charge a professional rate per hour. Photo manipulation is time, is money. If you do it for nothing your customer has just mugged you. In any business your biggest theif is your customer they will steal your time at every opportunity. What was your hourly earning on that phone cover? Don't tell me it's a question for your benefit. Respect your time and charge.

YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL..... CHARGE.

Only my view .....
Have fun.

Have to agree here. I know SMO came in for a lot of flack and I'm not wanting to go down that route:redface:, but when setting selling prices everyone ought to be factoring in the work involved and charging accordingly. It's all too easy to be very busy fools (figuratively speaking). Lots of smiley faces!! Don't shoot the messenger!

beginning to agree here - more so as time goes on and we are getting busier, the "samples before they buy" is getting beyond the joke now, and so takes up much precious time.
As i stated politely to SMO, i have another business which is first and foremost in my life - the sub business i wanted to start for ME,as another little venture into something different, to see if i would like it - and i do, very much indeed but, with the near constant stream of people wanting to see there pic on a phone case template BEFORE they buy, then sod off and DONT BUY, is whats really ticking me off - just a tad !

another example - another chap on 2/3 nights ago asking if i could blend his 2 pics in together, also take out the background, and take out the sheen on one of the faces - ALL FOR A SAMPLE BEFORE HE BOUGHT ANYTHING - i said NO !, sorry - i can do it, but for a sample, that way to much time....I HAD TO SAY NO...:frown:

there are other sides of sublimation that we are looking into at the moment, which i think may be more for us, we will keep the printing side going but i think we will need to re-evaluate how we are going to run it
