Newbie with problems

Hi, I am just starting out with my coralgraph 4 mug press and ricoh printer and the first couple of mugs are not coming out great. Can someone please confirm the temp and length of time the mugs should be in the press for. At the mo I am heating them up to 170 C and once this temp is reached leaving them in for 10 secs. I have obviously had the mug in from the start and heated up in the press. Any advice would be great. I am using a standard ricoh printer driver and standard photoshop settings for printing if you think this may be the issue. Thanks

170-180 degrees at 240 seconds is a good start.

Further information would need more information from you (what sort of ink, what mugs and what paper).

Hi KJ. Put a blank mug in the press until the press is about 10 degrees of operating temp, in your case 160C. Then swap it for the sub mug (don't burn your fingers) and let it get back to temp and 'cook' for the recommended time. The reason for your colours coming out wrong is because you are not 'cooking' at the operating temp for the recommended time.

In addition you should be printing through 'powerdriver' not the photoshop settings. Powerdriver does the 'business' for you.

Personally I think the major problem is that he is only cooking them for 10 seconds!!!

very true SG.....I was thinking KJ had confused the warming time with the actual 'cooking' time hence the recommendation to use a blank to get the press up to temp.

Ricoh Printer - Coral2 Mug Press - BMS Euro Mugs.

I know everyone is different, but this is the way I do it:
Old mug in while it heats up to 155 (or 180 for non BMS mugs)
Take old mug out - put new mug in to be printed and hit timer which is set for 155 (180 for Non BMS Euro mugs).
Timer counts down from 155 (or 180) to 0 and then beeps - take printed mug out and put the next one in straight away and hit timer (or, if finished printing - put the old mug back in and switch off).

You don't need to account for temp drops or rises and the old mug is just a sacrificial mug that is kept in press at all times (to keep the blanket in good nick) unless you are printing.

Hi, Thanks for that. I actually think we are doing everything correct when it comes to the mug pressing, I think now that the problem lies with printing the images. On screen the black/dark grey looks correct, but when it comes out of the printer it looks more like a maroon colour. We are using visi-sub ink and coralgraph sublimation paper. When we go to print we are unable to view the printer setting. Are we using the right driver? We are using the Ricoh aficio SG3110DN. Any advise please

You need the correct driver for the Ricoh and sublimation inks. You can get this from the Sawgrass website along with the instructions on how to install it and print.

Not following these instructions will result in incorrect colours

I have the coralgraph 4 press and ricoh,

I use a blank mug, till it beeps at the set temp (170) and i press for 160 seconds with firm pressure, and use, coralgraph, BMS 100z mugs and longforte 11oz. I use the same settings for all.

Its the daft coralgraph instruction sheet that ssays 10 seconds. ignore it.
