Money boxes cracking

Hi all
i am having a nightmare with some ceramic money boxes cracking.
they were bought from novachrome, and this is the second batch with issues.
i have tried turning the press on its side to let the heat put of the item, and also turning temperature down, but still having problems.
From 36 money boxes We have wasted 1/3!!
can anyone suggest a more robust alternative?
i would have stopped supplying them if not so popular with one client...

I had this issue a good while back from another supplier im afraid it seemed theyvwere a bad batch my supplier was great about it and replaced them try ringing novachrome and tell them the problem see what they say

we found putting them in upsidedown - ie big hole at the top helps, i think as they are so closed in, they just cannot take the heat, put ours still ping and pop, we dont do that many anymore as a result

Its getting to that stage where I'm gonna throw them at a wall!!! I'd rather me have the fun of breaking them than the mug press!!!

just remembered, we also really prewarmed ours a lot when we did them, which definately helped, but give novachrome a call - i know they can be a little "we never have issues" but you never know they might have more tips for you

Hi did you get any luck with this? I am having the same problem, they were from Novachrome and out of 25 I have a third of them cracked. Phoned Novachrome and they told me to try pressing as a bone china mug, this just made the print fade and still had a couple crack. Anyone got any ideas please?

No not really... Novachrome suggested lowering temperature and turning the mug press on its side so that the large hole faces the ceiling. not ideal if you have a few to print!!! Im hoping to find a new supplier soon. I am currently wasting the same sort of qty as you.

Hi Yes, that is pretty much what they told me. I struggle getting the money boxes in the press anyway and to turn it on its side will just be dangerous. I have 25 to get out in the next couple of days and am going to waste so many just getting enough good ones. I have tried playing with times and temperatures and also pressure and whatever you do it does not change anything. Really frustrating, I need to look at a different supplier too I think. I wonder if it happens to others who use a different supplier?

Hate to say it guys but youre wasting your time if 2 or 3 of you are having the same problem with items from the same supplier its a fair bet they have a dodgy batch, a decent supplier would swap them over and not come up with daft suggestions. And if that supplier has told more than one of you the same advice its a safe bet that that supplier knows theres a problem but is avoiding the obvious soloution. As i said before i had exactly the same problem a while ago these were money boxs from bms bms swapped mine over when it was established it was the boxes at fault. Even the best suppliers have problems its how they deal with it that counts .

i can never fathom out how one company can never have had a faulty product in the entire time they have been trading
