hi
I have just made a spinning animation of a 3d modelled mug, ignore the image on it its just my desktop background.
This was made in blender which is a 3d modelling and animation software.
Please note the image quality is low at it spins quite fast as its just an example of what ive made as rendering from blender can take a while i might do this with any mug designs i come up with for advertising my services.
i had to upload it to youtube which has also affected the quality as i dont think gifs work on the forum.

Re: spinning mug 3d model
Haven't used Blender before, but maybe try playing with the CAD model in Luxion Keyshot rendering software (there should be a demo on their site).
I use keyshot for product design work and love the animation side of it. It allows full customisation so will allow you to slow it down or rotate at an angle etc.
It's a sound idea, I just think the speed of rotation will be an issue (as it spins so fast you miss the design)

Re: spinning mug 3d model
i can change the number of frames when i do it properly and just allow the rendering to take a bit longer (i used 36 frames in the one you see) but as i say it was more of a test to see how well it works I also need to change how close to the handle the design is and maybe tweek the handle shape but im thinking it might be useful once done, i may also import them into flash and create a control for the rotation but thats a whole other job lol
