Turning an 8 colour into a 6 colour for ciss sublimation inks

Can i turn my 8 colour epson printer into a 6 colour for sublimation or do i have to buy a 6 colour printer

If the 8 colours are available as sublimation ink, then you can use it. Depends on what model it is, and what colours it wants. We use a 7 colour wide format Epson, with InkTec sublimation inks, who have 10 colours available for sublimation work. I think the only colour they don't have which is sometimes needed is light light black.
