Re: Heat Tape - Green or Brown ?

Post by NikGrey »

I started with the bundled 5mm Brown tape which is fine now I have it in a tape dispenser - I just bought some Green PET tape from China which is taking a while to get here so was about to buy more from someone in the UK.

Before I do that I wanted to ask here who prefers which type and the reasons behind that preference.

The ONLY reason I bought the Green stuff is because I found a good deal.

Green or Brown ?

I have started a Poll so people can get a quick answer but please post your reasoning below.

We use the yellowy/gold coloured one, after switching from the pinky/red colour one which tended to sublimate pink marks, which wasn't ideal!

Bronze here ;-) used green for years until I found the 'brown' tape. Green can leave a residue, between, I believe is a higher temp tape. We've discussed here before and given links to hear prices on eBay.

I think I did see a discussion but nobody started a thread specifically for this so would be hard to find if that's what your searching for. I might be wrong but I did a quick search before posting.

It's Kapton Tape (The Amber).
Just bought 5x 10mm 100ft rolls from HK - just so I can compare properly, for research purposes you understand ;)
