Ok quick update, Coralgraph have now eventually responded to me and have offered to replace the heating blanket and the plastic part which has melted. I would have preferred a refund to be honest but the fact that I drilled two holes in the frame have probably removed that option.

I have also asked if they would compensate me a box of mugs as I have wasted so many due to these problems. At least I have contact so hopefully they will fix all my problems :)

Long overdue update! Coralgraph replaced the blanket and the part that had melted, when they arrived I fitted them and pressed a few mugs. Things seemed to have improved slightly although the images were not full prints so couldn't be 100% sure. As is always the case, other things demanded my attention and I put the mug press to one side.

After freeing up some time I decided to get the press out and have another go. I was then met with another disaster! The way the blanket attaches to the arm had broken :( I managed to repair it with a new bolt and also added a second bolt to ensure that it couldnt turn when adjusting the pressure. I then tried to press some mugs, same problem as last time! I can clearly see the heating element in the mug and the top and bottom of the transfers are patchy and lighter.

At this point I have now given up completely on the press, it is just not up to scratch and in my opinion an inferior design. I once again went back to Coralgraph and explained the situation, I told them that I was not happy, they have sent out replacement parts and the problem still persists and at this point I want my money back.

They are now ignoring my emails and not responding to me at all. Really not happy at all.

I think my next step is to file a claim with the small claims court for my money back plus all of the mugs and supplies I have wasted because of this poorly designed mug press. Reading through the forum I see people have had mixed experiences with Coralgraph, looking back I really should have done my research properly and realised that cheaper is not better!

Not sure if it's just their heat blankets....when I bought my mug press several years ago (yes, another cheap Chinese one off ebay) it pressed mugs fine top to bottom without a problem. when I replaced the last heat blanket I got it from there too, and since have had the same problem. the element shows through in one area onto the mug after pressing, I think at the end of the day it's their blankets. Not saying all their blankets are the same, but this is the second time I've heard of this problem. I bought a sheet of thin silicone sheet as mentioned in a different post on here from ebay too, cut it to the same size as the heat blanket on the mug press but have not had time to test it yet, hopefully this will cure the problem..if it doesn't it's an Adkins mug press too to match my flat bed......the saying is correct 'buy cheap, buy twice'

I've been reading this because I had similar problems at the top edges of my paper on two completely types of mug presses. I messed with pressures and stuff, but what eventually fixed it for me (bearing in mind it might not work for others) was after I tape the print to the mug, I wrap the whole lot in a piece of ordinary copy paper.

I can;t remember if it was paul or pisquee, but some helpful soul on here suggested it.

I'm curious about how people set their pressure. I put a mug in the press, turn the adjuster until it stops (at that point the mug won't turn, open the press, and turn in another half a turn on the adjuster.

What do others do? I'm sure pressure has a lot to do with some of the problems in this thread, especially for those of us that have graduated to a spare cheap Chinese press.

I set mine like that before but endesnup with the area of the heat tape marling the print, when printing mugs now I make sure the image is wrapped tight against the mug and use the smallest piece of tape to hold it in place and not pressing to hard on the part of tape that is over the transfer. I have my press so it is still able to be turned but s I'll tight. Also try increasing your time a bit as the areas close to the gap in the mug press generally have less pressure with the cheaper presses in my opinion and take longer to cook in those areas. Also make sure your image doesn't wrap too close to the handle so also try reducing your image width a little if its quite close it works for me like this
