Image Darkens considerably
Re: Image Darkens considerably
OK here we go.
If I import an image into coraldraw, do a softproof (relative), it shows the image darkens alot. Now this is how it will print. So I can compensate to allow for that, then when the softproof / original are comparable I print.
Photoshop CS6 Extended does not appear to be anywhere near as accurate in the softproof. Is that something I can sort out in CS6.
Can I get the print to be closer to the original to start with....ie do I still need to learn more about ICC.
Is it because the white of the aluminium I did the profile on is slightly brighter than the unisub white?... is it that simple?

Are all your colour management settings in Corel and Photoshop both exactly the same?
Re: Image Darkens considerably
They appear to be.
Pisquee do you use CS6? If so does it support the 7600?

Yeah, depending on which computer I am on, I use CS6 and CC. I am not sure what you mean by "support" but it prints to out 7600s and 9600 perfectly fine, with the correct ICC selected in soft proofing mode we don't get any surprises.

Thanks Pisquee.
It prints fine, just CS6 flashes up that the printer is no longer supported. Will have to comb through the settings. I suspect I have something amiss as the coreldraw softproof is really close to the finished product.

It seems like there is a bug with cs6 and older printer drivers especially when selecting custom paper sizes and using 16 bit printing option. You can check out the links here for custom paper size issue and here for the 16 bit problem.
Send 16-bit Output (bug)*
*EPSON PRINTS DARK and/or off in color using 16-bit print option?
A user reported Epson technical support confirmed a problem checking the 16-bit option (in above Print Settings dialog) from Photoshop or Lightroom using "Off (No Color Management)" settings.
He wrote that Adobe manage colors — "Off (No Color Management)" — will print 16-bit documents correctly without checking the 16-bit option — that checking it may create a color-management conflict.

Re: Image Darkens considerably
Where is this 16 bit option in Photoshop? I don't see it in my settings?
Re: Image Darkens considerably
It's in the image settings. Either:
- on the initial file settings when using file>new
- when opening an existing image go image>mode
- on the initial file settings when using file>new
- when opening an existing image go image>mode

Re: Image Darkens considerably
I was working in 8 bit anyway. I couldn't see the 16bit option when going to print. I was hoping it would resolve some dark printing issues.
If anyone had Epson/ CS6 dark printing problems, did a reinstall of the printer driver make any difference?
