Are your mugs sublimation mugs and sorry to state the obvious but have you printed on the correct side of the paper?

Yep sub mugs and yes I'm pretty sure I printed on the right side of the paper ... Also read some mugs can be a bit iffy ... And to try scratching surface with fingernail ... If it marks not good to sub

I was hoping maybe my dishwasher was too hot or I put them in the dishwasher too soon

Putting the mugs in the dishwasher so soon after printing shouldn't be a problem. Could well be a dodgy batch of mugs, did you get them from a reputable supplier?

The problem will be that some sublimation mugs are dishwasher safe and some aren't.
The ones that aren't the coating (and print) will not survice a dishwasher, and the coating will crack/peel off.
If they are advertised to be dishwahser safe, then either your supplier is lying, or they are a bad batch.
