Re: Sticking blanks

Post by A11kns »

Hi Everyone,

I have been pressing the 0.7mm business cards from Sublimetals for a while now and had great results. I haven't printed any for awhile until tonight. I've done everything as normal, using TruePix paper, but the blanks are sticking to my paper as if I glued the paper to the blanks?!?!
Any ideas please? I've just wasted a run of cards!

Cheers
Dan

Have you removed the film?

Had the same problem with Unisub luggage tags this week, very strange...exactly as you say, stuck as if with glue! Done a fair bit of Unisub metal recently and never seen this....sorry, that doesn't help but maybe makes you feel a bit better to know you're not alone! ;-)

It would be the polyester coating melting slightly and the fibres of the paper bonding to this. When it comes off the heat it sticks together. Reduce time and/or temp. 185c would probably do if you have an epson or even a touch lower.

Sublimetals suggest an even lower temperature.

Lower your temp. Even if you used different settings before, your press may decalibrated it self.

Hi Dan

Just replied to you directly but also noticed you posted on here, so will put my reply here as well:

"Hmm, sorry not had any other reports of this problem and run some tests myself on some of our metals (for a different reported problem!!) and tried 2 different presses and couldn't replicate your problem or the other! Perfect everytime lol

I imagine its an overheating problem of some kind, melting the poly surface... maybe try dropping the temp a little? Have you any left of the same batch you can return to us to test?"

If you can let us know if you manage to find the problem and if not send us one of the offending ones (printed and unprinted if possible) and we will then despatch a tested batch to you asap

Nicci

Does the paper come off if you soak it?
