Printing inside a mug - Is it possible?

Thanks Listawood. I must admit I asked initially because some clients want graphics on the inside of the mug but seems like technology has yet to catch up. As for company details on the bottom then personally we have been asked by clients NOT to do this although we sell designs in gift shops so for those mugs we may do stickers. Thank you.

I think " technology has yet to catch up" is a good summary. Mug inners supporting sublimation have yet to catch on, and while inner decal decoration on dye sub mugs is possible, it is inefficient and thus costly (not personally aware of an instance of this so can't give figures). To give a decal sufficient durability it has to be fired on at 800+ degrees, which burns the sublimation coating. Therefore we have to apply a decal to an uncoated mug, then kiln it, then photo coat it, then cure it before finishing.

I guess if you get a similar enquiry in future it would do no harm to ask sales@listawood. com to quote you on such a specification.

Not sure its technology, but manufacturers

The reason I say this is because... IF the mugs were coated on the inside and IF someone would make suitable vacuum blankets for a 3D machine then it would be easy to do. Neither of those two things are impossible, we just need a manufacturer to be a bit more forward thinking!

I've got the blanket which will do inside and outside at the same time but cant find mugs with an internal coating.

Really, a blanket exists? Would you be so kind as to post a picture or tell us where you bought it? I may then try to coat inside of mug myself and use 3D oven. Olly

Is this not for doing the outside of a latte mug? I can't see how it would do the outside and inside so perhaps someone can tell me differently.

It will do water bottles and many types of mug. If you look at the pictures part of it goes inside the mug latte or straight and if you pull it out you can use it on water bottles. With a mug like the plastic unbreakable ones if you put a transfer inside and outside and apply the vacuum you can print inside and outside at the same time.
