I did state earlier in this thread that I was looking at this and in turn had asked our Host company to take a look. I will update the thread as and when I hear back from my host company.

I am taking the forum offline for approx. 15 mins at 5pm today for other maintenance.

Yep, as I worked in computers for a good number of years, (repairing computers, building websites etc), done all the tests and checks. Now't to do with line, filtering etc. All speed tests show correct speed at all times.

Sorry Justin; I know you were looking into it but when Neil addressed my specifically and Olly suggested that I publish the OS and browser info I just figured I may as well as it'll save anyone from asking for it again and this way absolutely everything that there is to know about my system is available. I was just leaving everyone to it until I was asked to give the info. I'm assuming you're replying to me? I totally appreciate that you looked into it immediately, don't worry :)

A lot of the time, websites get blamed for being " down " but check BT service updates, they had problems connecting to ebay, Amazon and Facebook recently...basically the high traffic sites.

You'd be surprised the number of times I get phone calls and texts from clients telling me to reboot their server as it's gone down. Of course, it never has. They never think to check downforeveryoneorjustme.com or anyone like that, or even think to ping their domain. They just assume that the second they can't see their site, it means their server has inexplicably shut itself down. I remember getting one client to run tracert and send me the results and it showed clearly that a BT box in Ilford was down, but even though I sent them my own screencap they insisted that it was a server issue.

That's why the first thing I said on this forum was to suggest that it was just me. You can't assume that something's slow just because it's slow for you, as it may be fine for everyone else. Just wish clients would understand that.

I've made a few changes to the forum tonight. This should see a marked improvement in performance so please run any previous tests and let me know your results. No need to post pages of data (at this stage) just a quick update would be appreciated :-)
