ok! I am finally, officially pissed off with printing cases with foil!!!!

Hi Paul. Haven't read through history of this thread but if you are trying to use foil on phone covers in mini 3d vacuum then give up. It just doesn't work. That was the conclusion that myself and BMS came to after spending 1.5 hours at their showroom trying to do it. The use of foil from my experience also doesn't give better print. Foil in the larger vacuum machine I believe works but stick to paper and cutting corners to get perfect 3d wrap. Olly

It was the bottom where it tapers. May be down to overlap of paper where mug tapers at bottom. The wrap crushes it and may cause folds. Wacked the time to 600s which seems long but this and cutting the overlap at tapering bottom gives perfect results. 600 is to long it drags lol.galerion;92564 wrote:Are you getting bluring near the bottom or top?

I found 600 over cooks the ink, I place a bit of tape in the center of the paper at the bottom and that has fixed the taper problem as that is where the wrap struggles most to hold the paper tight to the mug. If you use coralgraph mugs this isn't need as they are straighter mug but then of course they don't have bms rn coating so can't win. Really could do with BMS getting straighter mugs or find a better way to hold the paper on than these wraps.Tryweryn;92581 wrote:It was the bottom where it tapers. Yeah maybe 3 bits if I think there still going to be a gap either side of the tape but not had to use more than that.

I've tried printing cases with foil. The ink is the low temperature dye sub and the foil is the silver/transparent one, all supplied from the factory. Tbh the first time I tried it, it was horrible due to the printer. But after I changed printer, the press comes much better although the transfer on the sides are not optimal. I did 300 seconds including 20 seconds vacuum delay, and starting temperature of 90 to 160 C. However, you need to keep in mind that not all blanks will shrink optimally at this temperature.
